If you ask non-profits what their biggest needs are, nine out of ten will say “money.”  Most non-profits with a yearly budget of $500k or less are operating with a “leaky bucket” and continually need new funds.  But there’s a lot more that goes into fundraising than mail-outs and fun events.  Non-profits must have a solid plan in place before they embark on a fundraising journey.

Serve Houston has developed an activity called “Hit the Spot” that helps our Impact Organizations make good fundraising and communications decisions – but we need your help!  We’re looking for volunteers with a professional or administrative background to help our Impact Organizations repair their buckets before they begin their end-of-year fundraising campaigns.  “Donor Whisperer” Rachel Collins, one of the top 30 fundraisers in the world, will be on hand to walk us through this activity.  We just need you to apply your business knowledge/experience to help our Impact Organizations problem-solve generic issues.  Volunteering for just two hours can potentially help these non-profits strengthen their infrastructure and prepare to effectively raise more money this year!

* Note: This is not a fundraising event – we are asking you to donate two hours of your time, not your money.  We believe that equipping our Impact Organizations in this area will result in greater funds that they can raise through outside sources.  We just need you!

* * Impact Organizations present at this Collective Gathering: ANSA, C.H.A.R.M., Eyes on Me, Generation One, Love146, Mission Centers of Houston, Mission of Yahweh, Nabor House Community, Rescue Houston, Source for Women, SpringSpirit Baseball, and WorkFaith Connection.

Our spotlight organization for our August Collective Gathering is: Rescue Houston. Come and learn more!
